Are you looking for accommodation in La Paz and not sure which area to stay in? If you are worried about security, being close to transport & shops then let me recommend a great apartment we stayed in for 4 weeks while in La Paz.
We booked a one-bedroom apartment at Lhamourai Living Apartments and was pleasantly surprised by its size. Especially after camping for 10 days in Easter Island. To go from a tent to this accommodation was a massive improvement.
If you jump in a taxi from the airport the drivers will know where they are going but you actually have to go into the carpark to gain entry. This car park is manned 24 hours a day and there is a security pin required for access to the building. You are extremely safe and secure.
Our host from Booking.com took us up to our apartment and went through the map of La Paz with us showing us where the main points of interest were. He arranged a laundry pickup for us straight away and was always reachable by WhatsApp.
The apartment we stayed in was fully equipped with kitchen, fridge freezer and cooking equipment. The living area had a sofa, TV, table and breakfast bar. There was a separate bedroom and the bathroom had a shower which always had hot water and good pressure. There was this amazingly large balcony where we could sit out at night and enjoy the amazing night views.
In the Area
We were close to two supermarkets, one being just around the corner. We had a health food shop and a smoothie shop next door to us which was so handy. Just around the corner was Plaza Murillo and we were about a 10 Minute walk from San Francisco Church/Square. There is an abundance of taxis and shuttles that travel along the streets if you ever want to hop on. Otherwise, there seems to be a lot of pick up points near San Francisco Square.
Most tour companies, however, do not pick up in this area of La Paz but as you are so close to the San Francisco
Square area it is not a problem. You can go and join the others at the designated pick up point by the square. Most tours will also drop you back off there.
We had WIFI during our 4-week stay and had no problems that we had to report.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in La Paz. There are so many trips that you can take and sights to see. Although I was told it was difficult to actually live here, as a tourist it is a great destination.
